Stephen Hopwood Is Not Dead—Asper Centre for Theatre and Film (U of W)
If a fortysomething year-old who questions his life’s choices wrote a play about a fortysomething year-old who questions his life’s choices and is offered a chance to go back and put things right, would the writer give his character a happy ending, or would he ruin everything for his character, as the writer resents the fact that he cannot go back and change things for himself? This new play by Winnipeg playwright Matthew Stacey is that play, and this is your chance to find out.

Between Sunset and Sunrise (Or, that time I walked around all night with a guy I met online)—Alto – Portage Place
Hi, we are hartofsilver productions from Victoria, BC, making our Winnipeg Fringe debut with “Between Sunset and Sunrise (Or, that time I walked around all night with a guy I met online).” If the 18-word title has not yet enticed you to come see the show…well honestly, I’m not sure there’s much more I can say. Because really, who wouldn’t want to be a fly on the wall for a real-life online date that lasted for 11 hours? Especially when it is peppered throughout with all those inner monologues you wouldn’t normally be privy to and one of the writer’s first dates ever (Yes, really…). Great for date night!
Outside In
THROWBACK!—The Gas Station Arts Centre
THROWBACK is a brand new original work and an acrobatic homage to 80’s and 90’s pop culture, music, television and video games- sit down on that floral couch in your parents’ basement, throw on an episode of Knight Rider, blast some Madonna and power up your NES for some Legend of Zelda on that glittery gold cartridge- THROWBACK is going to be totally gnarly! July 17th is 2-for-1 ticket night!
The Light Bringer
The Light Bringer—The Cinematheque
Hi! I’m Laila, and this is my first time to Canada! My producer told me to do this so here I am, being shameless for you. The Light Bringer is my real-life storytelling show about growing up a Muslim kid in America and what happened to me and my family. I don’t want to ruin it for you, but Bill Pats directed it, and I’m told it’s a powerful roller coaster ride. See you soon!!!
World Laughs

Hot Dogs at the Eiffel Tower—Rio – Portage Place
Hot Dogs at the Eiffel Tower (aka Hot Dogs) is an autobiographical solo play by British comedian Maggie Gallant. It addresses identity, family dynamics and the perils of a knitted wool bathing suit. The show combines stand-up, storytelling and a touch of Freddie Mercury to portray English village life in the 1970s, London in the 1980s and Ancient Greece around the time of Pandora.
Aaron Malkin
Aaron Malkin: Dandelion—Tom Hendry Warehouse
That James guy from James & Jamesy (Aaron Malkin) is performing a solo comedy about fatherhood. Through physical comedy, story-telling, and stand-up, Malkin shines a light on some of the joys and struggles of parenting a toddler. The show inspires reflection on how we all relate to each other and reminds us that we could all use a little more play and imagination in our lives.
The HamDad Players
Motherhood Out Loud—MTC Up the Alley
What do a banana, Santa Claus, and a Michelle Obama Barbie have in common? The only way to find out is to grip that steering wheel and drive on over to Venue 2, to see the range of emotions that come from raising a child. It’s all about Motherhood… and it’s out loud!

Tomatoes Tried to Kill Me but Banjos Saved My Life—PTE – Colin Jackson Studio
4 star review in Regina! 4 time award winning!
This unique one-man show is the story of Keith Alessi in his multi-cultural boyhood, meteoric rise in the boardroom to the startling news that changed his life forever. He candidly reveals to his audience how he used that obstacle to find a new passion in music and a cathartic outlet in storytelling.
