V.11 - Centennial Concert Hall - Rehearsal Hall
A pajama-clad unicyclist careens on stage, suitcase in tow. Unpacking, he introduces audience to a whimsical world of clothespin towers, erratic toothbrushes and gargantuan grins. Juggling with energy and presence, Janoah “anygoodjokes?” constructs a playful performing-partner puppet from piles of props. SpinS frames skill through physical challenge, fashioning hilarious precariousness that is joyful and open. Objects and audience swirl into chaotic creation in this solo circus, recounting the learning and laughter of an itinerant performer.

Janoah anygoodjokes?—Centennial Concert Hall – Rehearsal Hall

Janoah anygoodjokes? No, and neither does Bailin! Sorry but all that the one-liners elicited were a few groans, from both adults and kids alike. The juggling was quite good and his mastery of the unicycle is
undeniable. Not sure if the kids enjoyed it or not—I didn’t see the bursting enthusiasm that you normally see when kids have huge fun. I sensed some giggles and chuckles so they were amused at least./p>

I thought that asking for handouts is a bit tasteless, but that’s just my opinion and after all, it’s Fringe.

Janoah anygoodjokes?—Centennial Concert Hall – Rehearsal Hall

I wandered into this as a filler. You know I’ve been doing this for couple decades now, and every once in a while something takes you away and makes you forget you are at the Fringe. Janoah “anygoodjokes” Bailin is quite a capable, experimental, inventive juggler and has an act that keeps you to the edge of your seat, something I haven’t done for a long time! Now really, what you can watch from any average street performer, Janoah takes it to another level, all playfully with the audience and very, very alternative music. Add some abstract puppetry and amazing command of the unicycle…like he lives on this damn thing. Speaking of audience, he needs a lot to bounce off of, and there were only a few in our crowd, he deserves a lot more to play with! So do yourselves a favour, stop juggling your schedule, and let Janoah do the juggling, oh, he claims he’s not a magician…just a joker!
