Between Sunset and Sunrise (Or, that time I walked around all night with a guy I met online)
by Kayla Hart
hartofsilver productions - Victoria, BC
V.3 - Alto - Portage Place
When Kayla matches with Gabriel and discovers their shared appreciation for Richard Linklater films, what begins with four hours at the pub turns into an 11-hour, bar-setting first date—making her realize that sometimes the most amazing nights can produce the most conflicting feelings. Based on a real night inspired by the 1995 film Before Sunrise, this show is art imitating life imitating art. It’s a story of unexpected connection, vulnerability and truly letting go.

Between Sunset and Sunrise (Or, that time I walked around all night with a guy I met online)

hartofsilver productions—Alto – Portage Place

A homage to the Richard Linklater before trilogy, this show is a romantic dramedy about a transient all night first, and last date. The show itself is quite well acted with good chemistry between the two actors, and takes advantage of the venue, physical space and quite interesting narrative tools in a very engaging way. However, the script itself is generally quite glacially slow, and lacks real pull, unless the concept itself calls to you. As a 75 minute show, you really need to be into the concept to make the show worthwhile.

Between Sunset and Sunrise (Or, that time I walked around all night with a guy I met online)—Alto – Portage Place

Hi, we are hartofsilver productions from Victoria, BC, making our Winnipeg Fringe debut with “Between Sunset and Sunrise (Or, that time I walked around all night with a guy I met online).” If the 18-word title has not yet enticed you to come see the show…well honestly, I’m not sure there’s much more I can say. Because really, who wouldn’t want to be a fly on the wall for a real-life online date that lasted for 11 hours? Especially when it is peppered throughout with all those inner monologues you wouldn’t normally be privy to and one of the writer’s first dates ever (Yes, really…). Great for date night!
